£313 Million Tyre Factory Investment Shifts from Spain to Morocco Amid Approval Delays

Sentury Tyre recently announced a strategic shift in its investment plans, opting to allocate funds initially kept for a factory in Spain to accelerate the development of its Moroccan plant. The decision stems from challenges faced in obtaining approvals for the Spanish facility, contrasted with the smooth progress of the Moroccan project.

The Moroccan plant, slated to produce 12 million passenger car tyres annually, is being developed in two stages, each with a capacity of 6 million tyres per year. Construction on both projects commenced in October 2023, with plans to synchronize the ramp-up process.

With construction periods of 12 and 18 months respectively, key milestones are anticipated around October 2024 and April 2025. Following these timelines, products from Sentury’s Moroccan factory are expected to gradually enter the market, reflecting the company’s strategic reallocation of resources.
